About the band

Once Proud Race is guitarist/songwriter Jim Walsh and a mix of St. Paul area musicians, including: Joe Churchich – drums and production, David Lyons – guitar, Luke Pickman – cello, Bob Tipping – accordion and keyboards, Emily Walsh – guitar and vocals, and Grace Walsh – piano and vocals.

The band name refers to the human race and its struggles, and came out of a naming contest with the rest of my family. Barely beating out “Stone Cold Gnocchi,” it’s not intended to be taken too seriously.

Our music ranges from low-key instrumentals to hard-driving rock and blues, with every song telling a story. Regardless of your musical mood, you’ll find what you’re looking for with OPR.
